Keri Riggs obtained a Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology from Texas Woman’s University, and is a Licensed Professional Counselor. Her wide variety of counseling experience over the past 18 years includes family, couples, and individual therapy in private practice, Employee Assistance, outpatient hospital and non-profit agency settings. She is a member of the American Counseling Association.
Keri’s style is caring, collaborative, supportive and strengths-based. She especially enjoys working with adolescents/college students and their families, couples with relationship/marital stressors, and clients with work-related issues. Stress management, women’s issues (such as postpartum depression and menopause), ADD/ADHD, codependency, depression and anxiety are additional areas of interest and expertise. She is passionate about educating clients in the importance of self-care during life transitions, assertive communication skills and setting and maintaining appropriate boundaries at work and home.
An experienced and effective group facilitator, Keri brings her enthusiasm and interactive style to workshops on topics such as family communication and parenting, women’s burnout, anger management, grief and loss, building self-esteem and Positive Psychology. She has presented seminars on mental health topics to area churches and employees of Dallas area businesses including Bank of America, KPMG, AT&T and the City of Richardson.
Keri served as the Executive Director of Neighborhood Youth and Family Counseling of Richardson for 2½ years, where she served as the CISM (Critical Incident Stress Management) Coordinator and Crime Victim’s Assistance Liaison for the Richardson Police Department and an Employee Assistance Program Counselor for City of Richardson Employees.
Prior to becoming a psychotherapist, Keri earned an undergraduate degree in Biochemistry from Oklahoma State University. Her first career was in pharmaceutical sales, where she worked for 6 years as a specialty sales rep and field trainer in doctor’s offices and teaching hospitals.
Keri is an avid reader and music lover. She enjoys travel, walking, seeing movies, watching football and spending time with family and friends. She lives in Plano with her two children.
